Perseus and Andromeda
Photoshop
July 2009

I haven't done many Mithology inspired illustrations throughout my painting years. The story about Perseus and Andromeda has however, left my mind reeling with ideas.

Most of the visual nudge came from the Charles Napier's painting with the same title. Although, I wanted to illustrate more movement and convey urgency in my painting by positioning Perseus in the action pose rather than having him motionless. His character was the one who took the most time to paint. The lack of male models with the accurate position is very hard to find, so I had to paint and repaint arms and legs many times over.

Well, that's pretty much all. It took about 2 weeks to complete (not sure of the hours, since I work on couple of things at the same time).

All in all, I hope you like it. Feedback is very much appreciated.

Thanx to Yang Xueguo for the wonderful splash brush.
